QUALITY CONTROL INSPECTOR

Reporting directly to the Industrial Engineering & Quality Control Manager, the successful incumbent will be responsible to support the maintenance of Quality Standards within Production with regards to Processes, Products (manufactured & finished) by conducting audits and inspections, as well as recording and reporting on quality results.

 

The main duties of this position include:

  • Auditing in-process production by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement checks and communicating required corrective actions to the responsible Production Supervisor
  • Inspecting finished products by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement checks; returning non-conforming products for re-work; confirming rework
  • Document inspection results by completing reports and logs, summarising data (rejects, reworks, scrap, waste etc.)
  • Collating information daily pertaining to quality control and product reports daily, weekly & monthly detailing failure patterns and characteristics
  • Analysing Quality Data and make recommendations for improvement
  • Training and assisting operators to carry out their quality control functions and ensure their compliance to meet the quality goals
  • Checking details of incoming components when necessary (Quality issues with components on production lines)
  • Communicating any non-conformances or any quality related issues to the Production Manager and Industrial Engineering Manager
  • Communicating with production staff and working together to develop systems that promote quality (continuous improvement initiative)
  • Auditing and reviewing of Production Work Instructions and Procedures (SOP’s)
  • Assisting with the update of SOP’s as required
  • Verifying of equipment / jigs & fixtures / gauges used to measure / check quality adherence and ensure within specification
  • Performing quality checks on all products produced to ensure they meet the required quality standards
  • Assisting ISO Officer to ensure all Production and Quality conforms to ISO Standards
  • Assisting with any investigation of all In-house manufactured / Production quality defects and customer Complaints related to production
  • Complying with all company and departmental policies in the performance of work or workplace activities
  • Maintaining an acceptable organisation and cleanliness of work area
  • Performing other job related duties as assigned
  • Ensuring health, safety and security are optimised

 

Qualifications and other Requirements:

  • Minimum of a Tertiary Diploma/Degree in Quality
  • Minimum 3 years Quality Control experience in a similar environment
